Wholly Apart

This is the first poem I've been able to write in over a year;
I wrote it on

WHOLLY APART

i am Solitude within a multitude

A star in a constellation

A grain on a beach

A drop in an ocean

one Life in motion.

i am a Stroke in a painting

A thread in a tapestry

A bead on a necklace

one Second amidst all eternity

a single Letter

on a page

in a chapter

of a book

on a shelf

within a vast library.

Without me,

the World

has

and will

Go on.

i am a Mountain in a range

An island in a chain

A leaf in a forest

A blade in a meadow

A cell in a body

A hair on a head.

i am neither special nor strange.

When i'm gone,

very Little will change.

Why? Because

i am NOT NEEDED.

i do NOT MATTER.

i am neither a piece

nor a part.

i am Whole.

(i am healed!)

i am Whole.

(i am filled!)

i am Whole.

(i am home.)

i must Release

this forever Fantasy of Finding

(something to fill me,

someone to complete me).

i must Awake

from this narcissistic Nightmare of Needing

(to be needed)

and Fall

down –

down

to Reality.

for when i Finally Face

and Entirely Embrace

my Wholeness,

then i will be

Free –

Free

to Enjoy and Experience and Explore!

all it means

and

how it feels

to Be!

Fully Alive

and

Wholly Apart –

me amidst We.
